Girls' sport into the community

Ralph Allen girls are taking sport out to the local community.

Ralph Allen Girls footballers played a demonstration match at half time during a Bath City Game recently.

The girls go to Ralph Allen’s afterschool football club run by Bath City Foundation, and they were invited to play a demonstration match on Saturday 14 March alongside Hayesfield Girls (as Bath City foundation also run their club).  The demonstration match was during half time at the Bath City match.  The purpose of the game was to raise the profile of woman's football in Bath.

And Ralph Allen Years 7 and 8 netballers have also been given a fantastic opportunity – they have been asked to be Flag Bearers at Team Bath's next televised home game against Celtic Dragons on Monday 13th April.

The girls will all walk out onto the court with the flags before the start of the game and stay on court while the teams are introduced to the ground and viewers at home. They will then be able to stay and watch the game with courtside seats.

Mrs Brown, Head of Girls’ PE, said, ‘The netballers are very excited and hope that their families will watch them in action - the game will be shown live on Sky Sports on Monday, starting at 7:30pm.  Both these sporting opportunities raise the profile of girls’ sport in the community and hopefully will inspire more girls to try both football and netball.’
