Product Design AS and A2 examination work

The iterative design task requires students to undertake a substantial design, make and evaluate project centred on the iterative processes of explore, create and evaluate.

The students had to identify a design oppportunity or problem from a context of their own choice, and create a portfolio of evidence in real time through the project to demonstrate their competence.

Some of the projects were based on the Trunki, a children's suitcase, and a wide range of ideas flowed as a result.

Students have to identify market needs and opportunities for new products, to initiate and develop design solutions, and make and test prototypes and products.  Learners acquire subject knowledge in design and technology, including how a product can be developed through the stages of prototyping, realisatoin and commercial manufacture.
