Ralph Allen School new Headteacher, from 1 January 2018

Dear Parents / Carers,

As many of you know, Mr Withers, as well as being Principal of Ralph Allen School, is currently also part-time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the new Palladian Academy Trust (PAT), the multi-academy trust which Ralph Allen has been instrumental in creating. In December 2017, he will be giving up the role of Principal of Ralph Allen School to work full-time as CEO of the PAT.

At the beginning of the summer holidays, therefore, the governors began the process of recruiting a new Headteacher for Ralph Allen. (We have chosen to rename the role of Principal to bring Ralph Allen in line with the other schools in the PAT.) Our brief was to find the best person to take Ralph Allen from the good school it is to become even greater, someone who would help us retain the character and ethos that sit at the heart of the school.

We were delighted to receive seventeen strong applications, all from current headteachers or deputy/assistant heads. After narrowing down the list to seven shortlisted candidates, a panel of governors and an independent advisor last week conducted a two and a half day interview process to assess their strengths and their fit with Ralph Allen. The process included sessions involving all staff, an assembly given to the whole of year 7, and conversations with the Student Council.

I am delighted to say that we have offered the position to Mr Andrew Greenhough, currently Vice Principal at Ralph Allen, and that he has accepted.

Mr Greenhough has a wealth of experience as a school leader, and has been at Ralph Allen since 2012. Before that he was Assistant Principal at Nottingham University Samworth Academy.

Mr Greenhough will take up his new role as Headteacher at the beginning of January 2018.

The governors would like to thank Mr Chantry for the excellent job he has done as interim Head of School over the past 14 months. We are very pleased that he will remain in a leadership role at the school. We would also like to thank Mr Withers for everything he has achieved as Principal in his four years, and look forward to his continuing involvement with Ralph Allen in his role of full-time CEO of the PAT.
