Three Ralph Allen students reach Everest

The Duke of Edinburgh compass and map reading skills taught by Jane Fox at Ralph Allen School are literally sending her students to the top of the world!

Max Workman (18) and Ross Jacob (18) both graduated from Ralph Allen this summer with terrific A levels and deferred places at top universities, but the spirit of adventure instilled in them during the gold award Duke of Edinburgh programme has inspired them to great heights. Without a guide, they worked as a team to successfully trek to Everest base camp and scale Kala Pathar (5400m).

Wearing their Ralph Allen Duke of Edinburgh T-shirts the boys celebrate their personal bests and great achievement at base camp.

Adelaide Peach, an ex-Year 13 student, has also spent an exciting few months recently.  She has been travelling through Nepal and India where she too reached Everest Base Camp.

Adelaide completed her Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award whilst in Year 11 at Ralph Allen. Part of her trip included voluntary work teaching English to Tibetan refugees.
