Christmas Concert

Students from all year groups took part in the Christmas Concert on Wednesday 6 December.

Twenty-six students played in the orchestra, nine were in the Guitar Group, eight played in the Jazz Ensemble, eleven in the Una Voce choir and eleven in the Bach to Broadway choir. Mrs Randall, Head of Music, accompanied on piano and conducted the orchestra, and Mr Parker and Mr Wilshire supported different acts.  

The numbers included:

  • Pick up the pieces by the Average White Band performed by the Jazz Ensemble
  • Rhythm of Life from Sweet Charity by Una Voce
  • Imagine, a piano solo by Charlie Bailey
  • Minuet and Trio from Divertimento No 3 for clarinet by Mozart performed on the clarinet by Amelia Wise
  • Blow, blow thou winter wind by Thomas Arne performed by Cleo Jefferies
  • Chatanooga Choo Choo performed by the orchestra
  • Knight Moves by Chilly Gonzalesplayed  by Mateo Davis
  • Moon River by Bach to Broadway
  • Oh fair enough are the sky and plain by Katerina Petmezas
  • Gustav Holst's The Planets - Mars and Jupiter by the Orchestra
  • Jingle Bells by the Guitar Group
  • It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas by Bach to Broadway
  • Ophelia's Song by Charis Bailey
  • Pachelbel's Christmas by the Orchestra
  • Blue Bossa by Kennny Dorham, performed by Tom Wyeth
  • And Dream of Sheep by Kate Bush performed by the A level music students
  • Pie Jesu from Faure's Requiem by Jessica Clarke
  • Drum Solo by George Povey
  • Christmas Mash Up by the Jazz Group
  • The Incredibles' main theme by the Orchestra

Mr Withers presented flowers to Mrs Randall and Mr Parker at the end of the concert, and celebrated how each individual student had been challenged and stretched to achieve their potential.
