Gold Duke Of Edinburgh Qualifying Expedition 2016 - Pyrenees

Year 13 Gold DofE Qualifying Expedition, Pyrenees July 2016 The Year 13 Gold DofE group flew to Toulouse in July and headed to the Pyrenees mountains to complete their Qualifying Expedition. Having completed 2 years of training and several fitness sessions leading up to the Expedition everyone was in good shape to complete the challenging route through the mountains. The first 2 days were taken with kit checks, final route planning and navigation training, following this the group set off for 4 days by themselves walking from France into Spain and back to France again. Everyone successfully completed this extremely challenging Expedition, after a rest the group participated in activities such as rafting, cycling, climbing and summiting a 3000m peak. I was extremely impressed by the groups Outdoor skills, team work and social skills. They were an absolute pleasure to work with and outstanding in ever way. A huge congratulations to the group on their fantastic achievement. Well done Stefan Barnett, Megan Ross, Tally Browne, Tom Weedon, Tom Mason, Veronica Kirby Garton, Polly Davies, Emma Dowty, Nick Appleton, Gabriel Dimond, Kiera Fitzsimons, Sophie Whipp, Dani Workman and Ryan Wynne. Thank you to John and Lyn Young for assessing students and their support with this Expedition. A special thank you to Heather Ridley who gave up a huge amount of her time to assist with the training leading up to this Expedition, helping with the organisation and planning of it and the massive support she offered when on Expedition to students and staff.
