Careers - Students & Alumni

Students

Throughout your time at Ralph Allen School you will have a variety of opportunities to learn about careers and think about your future.

The Careers Programme by Year Group outlines the careers teaching programme that we run through your PSHE lessons from year 7-13 and this poster shows you some of the opportunities you will experience as part of the Careers curruculum.

There is a careers’ notice board in school with information on careers, training and work experience and you are welcome to visit the Careers Room at lunchtimes or make an appointment to see the Careers Advisor.

Careers Newsletter

Take a look at the Careers Newsletter which contains ideas and links to resources.

Careers Directory

The Careers Directory is an amazing resource. It is organised by subject and has links to information about more than 150 different jobs.

Year 10 & Work Experience

During year 10, you will be invited for a careers interview to discuss your ideas for a work experience placement. Your tutor will also be available to offer you advice. A list of work experience placements which we have used in the past are on the school website here.

When you have found a work experience placement, you need to download and complete a copy of the Work Placement Form.

Year 11

In Year 11 you will be invited for a guidance chat with the Careers Advisor. You will be given an action plan at the end of the meeting which will summarise the discussion and record what further steps you may need to follow to help in your decision making.

Alumni

We keep a record of the destinations of our students and love to hear what they are doing. Some of these are posted in the main corridor, so please keep in touch with us!

Future First  futurefirst.org.uk

Future First is a charity that helps state schools build alumni communities, so that school leavers can connect to former pupils. It ensures that school leavers have access to role models.
