BBC Ten Pieces Inter-generational Orchestral Workshop

Bath Strings Academy will once again be hosting our BBC Ten Pieces Inter-generational Orchestral Workshop, and this year is going to be even more AMAZNG than last! On Sunday 12 May at Hayesfield Upper School, Bath will be joined by star conductor Patrick Bailey from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra who will lead us through 'Mars' From Holst's 'The Planets', as well as an improvised creative response to the work as a whole.

This event is open to the whole family and we look to celebrate the musical talent of the South-West in this community orchestral extravaganza.  We are seeking players of all orchestral instruments from beginners to advanced level; in particular percussionists, double bass, viola, oboe and advanced brass players.  Woodwind and Brass players should be Grade 2 level and above.

As well as Bath Strings Academy regular staff, Michelle Falcon (viola & violin), Ruth O'Shea (violin & voice) and Samuel Warner (Lower strings & Brass) we will be joined by special guests:

Conductor - Patrick Bailey (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra)

Percussion - Harriet Riley (BBC National Orchestra of Wales)

Woodwind - Claire King (Bath Philharmonia & Bath Spa University)

Strings - Lucy Hewson (Ensemble Burletta)

In addition to the family bookings, we are also having a 'Play For A Day' ticket, open to non-instrumentalists who would like to try strings or percussion for a day.  Instruments will be available to hire for a small donation to our bursaries fund. Children who wish to take part in Play For A Day must be 7+years old and should be accompanied by an adult for support if they are under 12 years.

For further details of the day, please see the attached poster and visit our website: www.bathstringsacademy.org

Best wishes
