U14 B&NES Cricket Tournament

These girls have all been attending our mixed cricket clubs this year and they were a force to be reckoned with! The first match was against Somervale and with 209 to chase we knew what we had to do. Maddy hit two 6s and Sophie  hit three 4s.  With consistent runs from the other girls we won, getting 273 runs. Izzy got player of the match. The second match was against St Greg’s who got 214 runs. Maddy and captain Gen both scored three 4s and again batting was consistently good, so we scored 259 runs, with Clara player of the match. Our final game was against Chew Valley who scored 213 runs. With Maddy scoring three 6s and Gen another one, and 4s coming from Sophie and Martha we scored 270 runs. Player of the match was Maddy.

Alongside these runs were some great catches and fielding skills on display and it was a great team effort from a young U14 side with four year 7 students and five year 8 students. It was lovely to see so many leadership skills on display and the encouragement the girls kept giving each other was fantastic.

Bring on next summer where they hope the event will be bigger. Well done, girls!  A big thank you also to Isaac from year 9 who came with me and did all the umpiring and scoring – a massive help, thank you.
