Support Staff Vacancies

Premises Assistant/Caretaker (part time)

Grade 3, points 5-6, £9.74 - £10.01 per hour

16 hours per week all year round.  Wednesday 18.00-21.00, Friday 13.30 to 17.00 and Saturday 08.00 to 18:00   

The school premises team are looking to recruit a practical and reliable colleague who will take pride in the appearance and maintenance of our school and grounds, keeping them in good condition for our students and staff.

Previous experience of a similar role would be desirable, however a positive attitude and a can-do approach to basic DIY is essential, as well as an ability and willingness to take on a variety of practical tasks.

There will be occasions when you would be required to drive the school minibus, therefore a full clean driving licence is essential.

Due to the nature of the role flexibility with working hours is essential, with some later working for calendared meetings, special events, parents’ evenings as well as working additional hours may be required.

Full training will be given.

Exam Invigilators

£9.62 per hour

Variable hours

We are looking to expand our team of Invigilators to help and support our Examination’s team.  You will be employed on a casual basis to supervise students taking both mock and external exams, as necessary throughout the school year, with the period between mid-May until the end of June (not including half-term) being a peak time in our calendar.  Hours are variable depending upon the exam timetable.

No experience in the role is required, as full training will be given.  Experience of working in a school or with young people would be an advantage. You will be professional and flexible, with good spoken and written English. You will be reliable and possess a calm but firm approach. You will be able to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative as you will play a key role in upholding the integrity and conduct of the examination process in accordance with official regulations and Ralph Allen School exam policy.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 18 October 2021.

Successful candidates MUST be available for full training on Friday 12 November 2021 and for external examinations from 16 May to 24 June (excluding week commencing 30 May).


Student Services Administrator/Receptionist. This is a dual role totalling 37 hours a week

Term time only + 5 days in the holidays (factor 45).

Student Services role Grade 4 (£10.41 per hour) 16.25 Hours (8:30 – 11:45).

Receptionist role Grade 3 (£10.01per hour) 20.45 hours per week (11:45 – 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 11.45 - 16:00 Friday)

We are looking for someone who is warm, friendly and has a can-do attitude to join our school. 

Working mornings in our busy student services office you will be required to support and manage students’ attendance and punctuality at school.  You will work closely with all members of the school’s student services and house team. 

In the afternoons you will work in our busy reception area where you will be the first person who visitors meet as they enter the school.  You will have exceptional customer service experience ensuring high standards are maintained greeting visitors face to face and on the telephone.  You will have the ability to prioritise workload, multi-task and will be comfortable working under pressure.  You will be confident in using all Microsoft packages and have good IT skills.  We welcome applications from people who thrive working in a fast paced and exciting environment and who can be flexible in line with our school needs.

Experience of working in a school and on Reception is essential.

Full training will be given.
